LifeBox Mission Project

Elk Creek Baptist Church is participating in a special Mission Action Project called LifeBox that was started by the kids during the Boomerang Express Vacation Bible School. This project is a way for churches across the nation to make a positive contribution to deployed military personnel.

The LifeBox project began a few years ago when a military captain contacted LifeWay Christian Resources about providing Christian magazines and devotional materials as a positive alternative to a large amount of secular magazines that were available to military personnel. Some soldiers have said that fighting battles are hard, but down time between assignments sometimes can be harder. Thus, magazines that will provide spiritually uplifting articles and devotionals to encourage soldiers to stand firm in their faith and to grow spiritually while they are away from their families and churches will be included in the LifeBoxes.

Kids in VBS learned that they can follow Jesus, worship Jesus, confess Jesus as Savior, serve Jesus, and follow God’s plan for their lives. They also learned about missionaries who go around the world teaching these truths and how soldiers serving our country in other nations also need to know about Jesus and learn more about Him. To help make a positive impact in the lives of these soldiers, please help us collect the following items to put in the boxes:

• Personal notes of encouragement
• Money to purchase Christian magazines, devotional books, and CDs
• Chewing gum
• Small, hard candies
• Tube/crew socks
• Wet wipes
• Stationery supplies
• Other personal comfort items

Please bring items and place them in the drop box, located in the Sanctuary all summer long.
